Four games were played on Tuesday, January 13th and we are here to recap them all!

All four games represented at least one West Michigan Conference school.

Big Rapids 50 – Fremont 43

Redick Powell scored 17 points to go along with his five rebounds, three steals and two assists for Fremont. The Packers trailed 17-13 after the first quarter. Big Rapids stayed on the gas throughout the second and third quarters, but Fremont wouldn’t budge. Any momentum Fremont may have had, stalled out in the fourth quarter and the Cardinals would leave Fremont with an 8-2 record.

Cadillac 57 – Ludington 44

After one quarter of play, Cadillac led 15-12 and soon 29-22 at the split. Despite holding Cadillac to fewer than 15 points in each quarter, the closest the Orioles got to taking the lead in the second half was seven. “The difference in the end was offensive rebounding; the Vikings dominated the battle of the boards.” Ludington head coach Thad Shank in the loss.

Taj Williams, 4th in the WMC in PPG, scored a team high of 15 points for the Orioles. Cam Gunsell followed with 10. Kyle McGowan, Domenic Wing, and Eli Main all in double digits for Cadillac.

Oakridge 62 – Hart 59

Hart started the game off on a 23-13 run to end the first quarter, but Oakridge came out of the whistle at the start of the second quarter and slammed the door shut on Hart’s offense. After holding the Pirates to just three points in the second quarter, the Eagles would head into half with a three-point advantage. With both teams going bucket for bucket in the second half, Oakridge would fend off Hart for the last second shot and prevailed with a three-point win on the road.

Hart’s Hollis Rockwell was the game’s leading scorer with 19. Evan Jozsa from Oakridge followed with 18, Peyton Ruel finished with 17. Caleb Hackley notched 17 points himself for Hart.

Baldwin 44 – Shelby 33

Baldwin started the game off with a 9-6 lead after the first quarter and would keep that trend throughout the rest of the game. Shelby failed to score over 10 points in a quarter, but its defense came to play holding a somewhat explosive Baldwin offense to just 44 points.

Eli Kelley finished the night with nine points, four rebounds and three steals. Trevor Weiss followed Kelley with six and DayDay Garcia contributed five points.
