Taj Williams – Ludington Basketball

Williams poured in 27 points in a 55–46 win over Spring Lake, and he saved his best work for the closing stretch. After the Lakers erased a big deficit and briefly took the lead entering the fourth quarter, Williams helped flip the momentum back — scoring 9 points in the fourth quarter as Ludington finished the job and stayed unbeaten. A near 30-point night combined with a decisive fourth-quarter takeover makes Williams one of the week’s most valuable performers. Highlight: 27 points vs. Spring Lake, including 9 in the 4th quarter.

Gavyn Maddox – Montague Wrestling

Montague turned heads at the Big Rapids Cardinal Invitational (a competitive 10-team dual-meet tournament), finishing the day with an impressive 4–1 record. Leading the way was Gavyn Maddox, who was flawless from start to finish. Maddox went a perfect 5–0 on the day, providing consistent points for the Wildcats as they stacked wins over Central Montcalm, Reed City, Lakeview, and East Kentwood. Montague’s strong showing is another early sign that the Wildcats are building something special — and Maddox’s unbeaten run was a major reason why. Highlight: Perfect 5–0 day at a 10-team invitational as Montague went 4–1.

Taylor Nutt – Ravenna Bowling

In a 29–1 rout of Holton, Nutt fired games of 207 and 141, posting the top single-game score of the week among the stat lines provided. Ravenna also opened the season with a 28–2 win over Orchard View, and Nutt continued to contribute as the Bulldogs moved to 2–0 on the season. When a team is winning big, it still takes individual pop to set the tone — and a 200-series headline game is exactly that. Highlight: 207 game vs. Holton in a 29–1 win.
