CSN Podcast: West Michigan Ironmen coach/GM wears many hats, passionate about the area

Nate Smith joins the CSN crew for Episode 22 of the pod, where we discuss a multitude of topics.

Nate Smith is head coach and general manager for the West Michigan Ironmen, who compete in the Arena Professional Football League and play their home games at Mercy Health Arena in downtown Muskegon.

He’s also head varsity football coach at Fruitport High School. And a track coach at Fruitport. And a loan originator for the VanDyk Mortgage Lakeshore team.

Is there anything the man can’t or won’t do? Maybe he won’t sing and dance.

Smith sure is a smooth talker and a great ideas guy, as we learned first-hand in his recent guest appearance on Episode 22 of the CatchMark SportsNet Podcast, sponsored by VanDyk Mortgage.

The episode was recorded a few weeks ago, but we’ve held onto it for the Ironmen season, which is now underway. The Ironmen kicked off the season in a big way Saturday night at Mercy Health Arena, pulling out a thrilling 55-51 victory over the Charlotte Thunder.

Watch Episode 22 of the CSN pod in the video at the top of this story, as Smith and co-hosts Scott DeCamp, Brent Raeth and Zach Zweigle chat it up on a variety of topics.
