NEWAYGO — It may not have been the cleanest game for Whitehall’s boys basketball team, but the Vikings still put on a show in a 66-47 nonleague victory over host Newaygo Thursday night.

Junior Camden Thompson threw down a pair of dunks and a third popped out on him on an evening when he delivered a game-high 19 points, 18 rebounds, six steals, and two assists. Senior Trannon Aylor crammed a one-hander on the way to a line of eight points and seven rebounds off the bench.

Senior Camar Ready was perfect from the floor (6-for-6) en route to 13 points and junior Kal Koehler had nine points for Whitehall, which is ranked No. 5 in the latest Associated Press Michigan Division 2 poll and remains perfect on the season at 14-0 overall.

Thursday’s win came on the heels of Whitehall’s hard-fought, impressive 58-56 triumph at Cadillac Tuesday in a battle of unbeatens.

For Newaygo (8-5), seniors Logan Klomp and Josiah Long scored 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Whitehall shot 44 percent from the floor (28-of-64), including 16 percent from 3-point range (3-of-19). The Vikings owned the boards, 43-21, but they had 15 turnovers.

Newaygo connected on 41 percent of its shots from the floor (20-of-49), including 31 percent from beyond the arc (5-for-16). The Lions coughed the ball up 20 times.

Whitehall faces a couple of tough nonleague challenges next week, visiting Division 1 Mona Shores (9-4) on Tuesday and hosting perennial small-school power Grand Rapids Covenant Christian (9-5) on Friday.
