Fremont wrestling’s Tee Ward wins CatchMark SportsNet Player of Week (Feb. 26-March 2, 2024)

Packers’ 138-pounder seized the state title last Saturday to complete a 4-3-2-1 podium countdown in his career.

Tee Ward finished 4-3-2-1 at the MHSAA individual wrestling state finals in his storied Fremont High School career.

He finished No. 1 in this week’s Catchmark SportsNet West Michigan Conference Player of the Week fan poll, too.

Ward tallied 1,221 of 1,981 total votes in the poll, which recognized six winter sports athletes for their performance Feb. 26-March 2, 2024. Fremont basketball player Taylor DeKuiper was runner-up with 448 votes.

In last Saturday’s MHSAA Division 2 individual state finals at Ford Field, Ward completed his 4-3-2-1 podium countdown. He placed fourth as a freshman, third as a sophomore, second as a junior, and first as a senior. The 138-pounder decisioned previously unbeaten Landon Thomas of St. Joseph, 3-1, and finished his season with a 53-1 record.

Ward, who signed to wrestle at Division I Northern Illinois University, finished with a 192-12 career record.
