Fruitport Stays Red-Hot, Claims first GMAA Title since 1991 Behind Bosch’s D1-Caliber Pitching

15 K’s for the Wake Forest Commit

FRUITPORT — Fruitport was firing on all cylinders Saturday.

Behind a lights-out performance from Ryan Bosch, the Trojans cruised to a 9-1 win over North Muskegon White in a GMAA showdown and improved to 15-1 on the season.

Bosch was dominant on the hill, striking out 15 and giving up just three hits and one run across six innings of work. He even helped his own cause with a solo shot to right field in the sixth, putting an exclamation point on an already stellar outing.

Fruitport set the tone in the third inning when Tommy Anderson launched a three-run bomb to left, breaking the scoreless tie and flipping momentum in the Trojans’ favor.

North Muskegon briefly answered in the fourth with a solo homer from Bronson Hurst, but Fruitport responded right back—dropping a five-spot in the bottom of the fifth. Avery Lambers roped a double to drive in two runs, Easton Fett added an RBI groundout, and Braxton Ward capped the surge with a two-run double.

Ward and Hudson Hazekamp led the way at the plate, each collecting three hits. Anderson and Lambers both finished with two RBIs. The Trojans racked up 14 hits in total.

Lambers came in to close things out in the seventh, striking out two in a clean inning to lock it up.

With the win, Fruitport continued its strong stretch of play and will look to keep it going Tuesday at Comstock Park.

North Muskegon, on the other hand, will travel over to Ravenna to face the Bulldogs on Tuesday.
