Grant Becklin wins CatchMark Player of the Week (Dec. 13-18)

Voters have determined that Ravenna senior, Grant Becklin is the CatchMark Player of the Week. This is Becklin’s first nomination and is the first Bulldog to capture this accolade this Winter. The crafty guard has been an offensive threat for the Ravenna boys basketball team who is currently tied for first place in the league.

Last week, Becklin notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds against Hart. Not only did he dominate the stat leaderboard, but he also came up big for the ‘Dogs. Late in the game against the Pirates, Becklin banked in a layup on the baseline to give his team a 59-58 victory.

Becklin is part of Ravenna’s talented trio that also includes seniors Kyle Beebe and Travis May. The three veterans have led Ravenna to a hot 3-0 start including two West Michigan Conference wins.

The timely highlight received 53.5% of the total vote, landing him in the number one spot. Joseph Hayes of Shelby’s boys basketball team followed with a runner-up finish and 43% of the total vote.
