After a couple disappointing losses in a row, Oakridge’s boys basketball team was looking for a win any way the Eagles could get it.
Garrett Wever delivered.
The senior guard drained a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to lift Oakridge to a 38-37 comeback victory over Wyoming Potter’s House Christian in the Cornerstone Holiday Tournament Red Division consolation game on Wednesday.
Wever finished the game with 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists en route to being named to the Red Division All-Tournament team.
Ethan Jozsa paced the Eagles (3-3) with 20 points and eight rebounds. Ty Maitland grabbed seven rebounds, while Peyton Ruel added seven steals and two assists.
Oakridge lost to Grand Rapids West Catholic, 71-34, on Monday in the Cornerstone Holiday Tournament opener. Last week, the Eagles dropped a 56-46 home decision to Shelby in West Michigan Conference play.
In Wednesday’s win over Potter’s House (1-3), the Eagles used a 15-7 fourth-quarter scoring advantage to pull out the win.
Oakridge gets a bit of a break now, returning to action Tuesday, Jan. 4, at home against Mason County Central.
