RAVENNA — The Jazwinski siblings’ game plan was obvious. They wanted to stay back with the lead pack for the first two miles of Tuesday’s West Michigan Conference Rivers Division jamboree at Ravenna.
That may sound a little strange, but the Jazwinskis are typically way out in front of the entire pack.
In what they called a “training” run for them, Hart junior Jessica Jazwinski and freshman Bobby Jazwinski stayed back for two-thirds of their races then turned it on in the final mile as both still won going away in leading their respective Pirates girls and boys teams to a sweep at the meet.
Jessica Jazwinski, the reigning Division 3 state champion, finished in a time of 19:14.5. Bobby Jazwinski, already a state-title contender despite being only a few meets into his high school career, clocked a time of 16:44.1.
Those times were their slowest of the young season. But, again, Tuesday’s meet was not about setting personal records for the Jazwinskis.
