Ludington’s girls tennis team traveled back down to Whitehall Tuesday and took care of some unfinished business.

The Orioles captured the 2023 Coastal Conference championship and they had to earn it, too, in holding off an always tough North Muskegon squad.

Ludington totaled 50 points, one point better than runner-up North Muskegon, in the resumption of the tournament suspended Saturday by inclement weather.

Grant and Whitehall tied for third at 34 points each, while Fremont was fifth (20), Western Michigan Christian sixth (19) and Manistee seventh (18).

“What a great day for the team and the school,” Ludington coach Larry Brown said. “Our girls have worked hard to get to this point and the success of winning today was a big step on our team achieving their goals.”
