Montague cruises past Ravenna in WMC girls basketball

Ice storm sparks cancellations across WMC

A small Tuesday evening ice storm kept many West Michigan Conference teams from playing last night. However, Montague conquered the weather and traveled to Ravenna for a West Michigan Conference girls basketball matchup.

After falling shy of earning a piece of the league title last week against Hart, Montague was determined turn things around before the district tournament beginning in early March.

The Wildcats came out firing and breezed past the host Bulldogs 42-27 to earn their 11th conference victory.

Montague jumped out to a 27-13 lead over Ravenna in the first half featuring a 19-point second quarter. The Wildcats cruised to the win after continuing their tact in the second half.

Montague leaders:

Kendall Osborne 13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals

Maddie Meacham 12 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks

Emma Dyer 7 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal

Claire Meacham 5 points, 4 rebounds

Ravenna leaders:

Madeline Kilbourne 10 points, 1 rebound, 2 steals

Emma Gillard 9 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals

Claira Schullo 4 points, 2 assists, 4 steals

Records:

Ravenna 5-15 overall, 2-12 WMC
