For the 20th time, the Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame presents the Holiday Classic basketball showcase on Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Reeths-Puffer’s Dan Beckemann Arena.
For the second-straight season, boys basketball teams from North Muskegon and Orchard View will tip off the varsity tripleheader.
The Norsemen (4-1) and Cardinals (2-3) will square off at 3 p.m. Wednesday. In the 4:45 p.m. matchup, host Reeths-Puffer takes on Jenison. At 7 p.m., Muskegon squares off with Grand Rapids Catholic Central in the grand finale.
Tickets will be sold at the door. They cost $5 for the entire event, which includes freshman and junior varsity boys games. (See complete schedule below.)
The boys varsity games will be livestreamed on Meridix. Cost is $10 for all three varsity games.
Last December, Orchard View defeated North Muskegon, 61-53, in the Hall of Fame Holiday Classic. In that game, the Cardinals rained in a dozen 3-pointers, including a combined nine from then-sophomores Delaney Oakes and Keith McAllister. OV outscored North Muskegon 24-10 in the pivotal fourth quarter.
Orchard View is now a West Michigan Conference member, joining the league this school year. The Cardinals compete in the WMC Lakes Division, which includes the seven largest schools based on enrollment, while the Norsemen are in the WMC Rivers Division.
