Regional action for the 2024 season is in the books for West Michigan Conference girls tennis teams and players.

North Muskegon senior Fia Lindsay will be the lone representative from the conference to compete in next weekend’s state finals after she captured a Division 4 regional title at No. 1 singles Friday at Aberdeen Park in Grand Rapids.

Lindsay defeated Grant’s Nadia Zerlaut, 6-2, 6-3, in the No. 1 singles finals. Both players earn berths in the May 31 and June 1 state finals in the Ann Arbor area.

Grant’s No. 1 doubles team of Jocee Pleune and Ana Ovalle also qualified for the state finals for making it to their regional championship match.

As a team, North Muskegon finished in fourth place with 14 points. The top two teams plus those with 18 or more points at a regional qualify for the state finals.

Host Grand Rapids West Catholic won the Division 4 regional title with 26 points, while Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian was runner-up with 20 points. Grant finished third with 16 points.

As a team, North Muskegon finishes its season with a 6-7-3 record. Norse senior Marilyn Gaston won a regional title at No. 2 singles.

Division 3 at Spring Lake

In Wednesday’s Division 3 regional at Spring Lake, West Michigan Conference champion Ludington placed fifth with 12 points. Whitehall finished seventh (three points) and Fremont was ninth.

Holland Christian won the regional title with 22 points, while Spring Lake also advances to the state finals as a team with a second-place finish at the regional.

Another strong season ended for Ludington but not without highlights from a couple of flights. At No. 2 singles, Jennah Skiba won the championship at her flight. At No. 4 doubles, the Orioles’ Grace Johnston and Ella Micka were runners-up.
