Ravenna bowling’s Taylor Nutt wins CatchMark SportsNet Player of Week (Jan. 29-Feb. 3, 2024)

Last week, she set her school’s series record. This week, she flirted with a 300 and broke the Bulldogs’ single-game record.

This week, Taylor Nutt has been knocking down pins and racking up votes like her it’s her job.

Not that the Ravenna freshman really has time for a job. This winter, she’s bowling and playing basketball for the Bulldogs on top of maintaining a 3.95 GPA.

Nutt was the West Michigan Conference’s regular-season bowling leader average-wise, girl or boy, with a 190. This week, she was amassed the highest voting total in winning the CatchMark SportsNet WMC Player of the Week fan poll.

Nutt finished with 5,406 of 12,611 total votes in the poll, which recognized six winter sports athletes for their performances Jan. 29-Feb. 3, 2024. Hesperia sophomore wrestler Noah Walker was runner-up in the poll with 4,724 votes.

Nutt has easily been the top female bowler in the conference this season. She secured her grip on that spot and moved atop the WMC’s girls and boys overall list with some record-setting performances of late.

Last week, she rolled two straight games of 232 to post a 464 series in a Ravenna’s 21-9 victory over Whitehall. The 464 is a Bulldogs record for a girls two-game total.

This week, Nutt flirted with a 300 game at Sherman Bowling Center with strikes in the first nine frames. she finished with a school-record 277. Her season average also is a school record.
