Rayne Thompson’s smack down kill wins CatchMark Play of the Week (Oct. 18 – Oct. 23)

After the poll closed Friday afternoon, voters have determined that Rayne Thompson’s bigtime kill was CatchMark’s Play of the Week. This is Rayne’s second Play of the Week nomination this season. The Whitehall senior led the Vikings to a West Michigan Conference Championship last weekend defeating North Muskegon 3-0 in the final match.

Thompson finished the day with 31 kills as the Vikings coasted to victory without dropping a single game throughout the day. Thompson reached the 1,000 career kill mark and broke a school record for kills in a game earlier this season. Whitehall heads into the post-season playoffs Wednesday, Nov. 3 against the winner of Spring Lake and Montague.

The timely highlight received 64.9% of the total vote, landing her in the number one spot. Joe Waller’s game winning touchdown followed with a runner-up finish and 28.1% of the total vote.
