Rockford Dominates Mona Shores, Sets Up District Title Clash with Muskegon

MUSKEGON – A fast start by Mona Shores wasn’t enough to hold off a high-powered Rockford squad in Wednesday’s Division 1 district semifinal at Reeths-Puffer. The Rams turned an early deficit into a dominant performance, rolling to an 80-53 victory and securing a spot in Friday’s championship game against Muskegon.

Mona Shores wasted no time making an impact, surging to a 7-0 lead in the opening minutes and energizing the crowd. Rockford quickly found its footing, sparked by freshman point guard Eli Wolfe who netted a pair of three-pointers and 10 first-quarter points, helping his team take a 16-13 lead after one.

Wolfe continued his stellar play, finishing with a game-high 22 points while orchestrating Rockford’s offense with precision. Freshman Josh Bascom delivered a key second-quarter surge for the Rams, scoring 10 of his 16 points in the period. By halftime, Rockford had built a commanding 42-22 lead, leaving little doubt about the outcome.

Mona Shores fought to keep the game competitive in the second half, but Rockford’s lead remained secure. By the end of the third quarter, the Rams were in full control, up 60-39.

Seniors Jordan Bledsoe (19 points), Jonathan Pittman (4), and Landyn Smith (6) gave the Sailors a strong effort in their final game for the Sailors. Who closed their season with an 11-13 record.

For Rockford (21-2), Dylan Gross connected on four three-pointers on his way to 14 points, while junior Jake Bascom also chipped in 14.

With the win, the Rams set up a highly anticipated district championship showdown with Muskegon at 7 p.m. Friday.
