The West Michigan Conference girls basketball title has come down to Montague and Hart the last two seasons.
It’s that way again this season, and it all comes to a head this week.
First-place Hart (14-2 overall, 12-0 WMC) visits second-place Montague (13-3, 10-1) Thursday for a game scheduled to tip off around 7 p.m. It’s the CatchMark SportsNet Game of the Week and it will be livestreamed for free by CatchMark.
The Pirates will be looking to deliver the knockout punch in the conference race, having edged the Wildcats, 37-36, Jan. 11 in Hart.
Montague is the two-time defending conference champion, having held off Hart each of the last two seasons.
Before the teams meet later this week, both have some business to address, particularly Hart. On Tuesday, Hart hosts Division 3 second-ranked Kent City (16-0) in one of the most anticipated girls basketball matchups in the area this season. Tonight, Montague welcomes Manistee (2-12) in a nonleague matchup.
