WMC RIVERS
NORTH MUSKEGON 77, SHELBY 42: It was competitive in the early going, but host North Muskegon outscored Shelby 38-14 in the first half and pulled away to remain unbeaten. The Norsemen went 10-of-25 from 3-point range and shot around 50 percent overall for the game.
“We played a tight game to start,” Norse coach Chuck Rypstra said. “It was 12-8. We then went on a 26-6 run to end the half. In the second half, they found more scoring but we were able to match them and take control.”
Said Shelby coach Rick Zoulek: “We had too many turnovers (21) and missed opportunities to be able to hang with them. … If we can cut down our bad passes and increase our made shots, we will compete with the better teams in our league. Right now we are giving good teams too many extra chances. I like our effort. Our execution must improve.”
