It was a light night for West Michigan Conference boys basketball teams Thursday.

Here is a roundup from Dec. 21, 2023:

WMC NONDIVISIONAL

MONTAGUE 42, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 24: Host Montague shut out Mason County Central in the first quarter, 12-0, and built a 21-6 halftime lead en route to the WMC nondivisional victory.

“We came out flat, to sum it up,” MCC coach Chris VanderHaag said. “We were outworked and outhustled tonight. It’s been a game-packed season so far and I think the kids’ focus was not on basketball tonight.

“We held Montague to a good (offensive) number. However, credit to them — so did they (against MCC). Take away the first quarter, it would have b een a whole different game.”
