Whitehall soccer’s Mason Mulnix wins Player of Week poll for Sept. 11-16, 2023

In a lively, back-and-forth voting battle in the CatchMark SportsNet Player of the Week fan poll, Whitehall soccer player Mason Mulnix edged Hart football player Joseluis Andaverde.

Mulnix totaled 6,660 votes compared to 6,493 votes for Andaverde.

This week’s Player of the Week fan poll recognized six West Michigan Conference fall sports athletes for their performances spanning Sept. 11-16, 2023.

The poll this week totaled more than 18,000 votes. See complete voting totals for the six Player of the Week nominees at the bottom of this story.

Whitehall’s boys soccer team picked up two big wins last week and Mulnix was a key factor in both victories. In a 3-1 upset of visiting Ludington last Monday, Mulnix netted a pair of goals. Two days later, in the Vikings’ 3-2 home win over rival Montague, the junior forward/midfielder scored a first-half goal and he assisted on Evan Jud’s game-winning tally with 5:15 left in the contest.
