At Mason County Central, Chye was the definition of a well-rounded athlete. Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 180 pounds, he excelled on the basketball court as a high scoring guard, led as a quarterback on the football field, and played a key role on the baseball diamond. His achievements extended beyond sports, maintaining a 3.87 GPA and preparing for a career in welding through courses at West Shore Community College. Growing up on a farm in Custer, Michigan, instilled in him a relentless work ethic, balancing sports, academics, and hands-on labor. When he wasn’t competing or studying, he spent time outdoors hunting—another passion that shaped his disciplined approach to life.
Despite coming from a smaller school, Chye has made a seamless transition to the collegiate level. His multi-sport background helped him develop a versatile skill set, making him an asset for the MCC Jayhawks. His work ethic, honed through years of balancing farm duties and athletic training, translated into an ability to push through tough practices and perform under pressure. His academic discipline also gave him the tools to manage the rigorous demands of being a student-athlete.
Since joining Muskegon Community College, Chye has proven himself as a key contributor to the team. His offensive ability was on full display in a game against Mid Michigan College on February 20, 2025, where he led MCC with 24 points and eight rebounds in a hard-fought contest. His scoring consistency and defensive playmaking have been crucial to the Jayhawks’ success, showing that his talent extends beyond the high school level.
As Chye continues to progress in his collegiate career, his journey serves as an inspiration to other small-school athletes striving to compete at higher levels.
