WMC boys basketball: Big second half sparks Hart; Shelby, MCC roll in nonleague action

Ravenna suffers loss to Potter’s House; Montague-Holton matchup cancelled due to illness

HART 48, KENT CITY 36: At Kent City, the Pirates jumped out to a slow start against the opposing Eagles with only 13 points in the first half. Some solid defense kept Hart in the game as they only trailed by six points at the break. In the third quarter, Hart outscored Kent City 14-6, giving them a 27-24 advantage. The Pirates carried that momentum to close out the game with a road win.

SHELBY 71, WHITE CLOUD 39: Host Shelby asserted some dominance against White Cloud Tuesday evening with a huge win over the Indians. At halftime, the Tigers led 36-17 and continued that pace in the second half. A standout 29-point performance from senior Joseph Hayes paced the offense for Shelby.

Joseph Hayes 29 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists

Bishop Lee 22 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals

Carson Claeys 10 points, 2 assists

POTTER’S HOUSE 58, RAVENNA 40: The Bulldogs suffered a loss while visiting Potter’s House on Tuesday evening. Double digit turnovers remain the culprit for Ravenna’s struggle as they look to bounce back in some conference action on Thursday.

MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 68, MANISTEE 50: At MCC, the Spartans jumped out to a quick start and led the Chippewas 40-15 at the half. They supplemented their scoring with a 28-point second half and some substantial defensive intensity to seal the deal.
