It’s time for the second edition of the CatchMark SportsNet Player of the Week fan poll.
Time to recognize six nominees from 2022-23 West Michigan Conference winter sports and for you to vote for Player of the Week among them.
This week’s fan poll is based upon the athletes’ performances spanning Dec. 12-17, 2022. The poll can be found at the bottom of this story after brief capsules on the nominees.
Voting is open and will continue to until noon on Friday, Dec. 23.

ADDI HOVEY, Hart girls basketball
The 5-foot-10 sophomore enjoyed a huge week in leading the Pirates to runaway victories over Ravenna and North Muskegon. In Friday’s 63-17 home win over North Muskegon, Hovey just missed a triple-double with 22 points, 10 rebounds, nine steals and three assists. In Tuesday’s 63-15 win at Ravenna, Hovey totaled 18 points, eight rebounds and six steals.
PARKER HOVEY, Hart boys basketball
The older brother of Addi Hovey was not to be outdone by his sister. In Thursday’s 92-84 nonleague home victory over Big Rapids, the 6-foot-5 senior guard posted a triple-double with 29 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists. In Monday’s 80-63 road win over Oakridge, Hovey battled foul trouble but still led his team with 21 points.
STEPHEN PRIESE, Hesperia boys wrestling
The junior took first place at 106 pounds in the Joe Loren Memorial Invitational Saturday at Chippewa Hills. He won by fall in the quarterfinals and semifinals before recording a tech fall over Shelby’s Nick Cano in the championship match. That pushed Priese’s record to 11-0 on the season. Earlier in the week, he recorded wins at 113 pounds over Ravenna and Grant opponents in a quad.
DAVID SHILLINGER, Ludington boys basketball
The 5-foot-9 junior point guard had a strong week in leading the Orioles to a pair of victories and helping to keep them unbeaten on the young season. In Ludington’s 94-68 victory over host Oakridge Thursday, Shillinger poured in a game-high 35 points, highlighted by seven 3-pointers. He didn’t score as much in Monday’s 60-53 home win over Traverse City West, but he finished with nine points in a balanced effort.
KIRA TWINING, Oakridge girls bowling
The Eagles junior turned in a strong performance in a West Michigan Conference match against Montague on Wednesday at Sherman Lanes. She rolled 209 in her first game and 195 in the second game to post a series total of 404 in leading Oakridge to a 27-3 team victory. Twining was a finalist for West Michigan Conference Girls Bowler of the Year last season.
SAVANNAH WINKLEBLACK, Montague girls wrestling
The junior went 4-0 on the day Saturday en route to winning the championship at 110 to 115 pounds in the Montague Mat Cat Holiday Duals. Winkleblack is coming off a strong sophomore season, in which she placed sixth at the state finals at 110 pounds. She was 17-5 against girls competition last season.
