North Muskegon continued its dominant season with another hard-fought victory, this time on the road against Ludington. The Norse remain undefeated and atop the West Michigan Conference Rivers Division, with star player Adam Dugener leading the charge once again.
Ludington, despite its struggles this season, showed why it’s a formidable opponent. Solidly holding second place in the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division, the Orioles have impressive wins over Fremont, Mason County Central, Oakridge, and Montague. Many of their losses, including a double-overtime heartbreaker to Spring Lake, have come in closely contested battles. This matchup against North Muskegon was no exception.

The game was a seesaw battle from the start. North Muskegon edged ahead 15-14 after the first quarter, but Ludington turned the tide to lead by two at halftime. The back-and-forth continued, with North Muskegon reclaiming a one-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter. With 22 seconds left in regulation, the Norse missed a three-point attempt, sending the game into overtime.
In the extra period, North Muskegon found its rhythm and pulled away, securing a 61-49 victory. Dugener was unstoppable, pouring in a game-high 30 points to lead the Norse. He was supported by Burrell with 14 points and Markiewicz with 8.
For Ludington, Cam Gunsell and Taj Williams led the charge, scoring 18 and 14 points, respectively. Despite their efforts, the Orioles couldn’t match North Muskegon’s scoring output in overtime.
Looking ahead, North Muskegon (undefeated) will travel to Holton on Friday as they continue their campaign for the conference title. Ludington will stay home to face Orchard View, aiming to rebound and build on their already strong season.
