Packers Respond in a Big Way: Fremont Erupts After Early Setback

Good teams win games. Great teams respond.

After a tough 7-1 loss to Traverse City St. Francis, the Fremont girls soccer team could’ve carried that weight into the next match. Instead, they flipped the script entirely and did it in dominant fashion.

On the road in Manistee, the Packers delivered one of the most explosive performances of the season, rolling to an 8-0 mercy-rule victory.

From the opening whistle, Fremont controlled everything. The attack was sharp, decisive, and relentless piling up a 7-0 lead by halftime and ending the match early in the second half.

Leading the charge was Roxy Martin, who recorded a hat trick in a statement performance. Esther Vissia added to the surge with two goals and two assists, showcasing the kind of all-around play that fuels deep team success.

The turnaround wasn’t just about scoring, it was about identity.

Just days after being outshot 15-4 against St. Francis, Fremont became the aggressor, overwhelming Manistee with constant pressure and second-chance finishes. It was a complete shift in energy, execution, and confidence.

Now sitting at 4-3-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play, the Packers have quickly re-established themselves as a force in the West Michigan Conference.

And if this response is any indication, they’re only getting started.
