Boys Basketball recap January 17th: Grand Haven holds off West Ottawa – Check out other scores in the area below

Grand Haven, Reeths-Puffer, and Muskegon headline Friday’s slate.

Grand Haven 73 – Holland West Ottawa 70

The Bucs trailed by 14 points heading into the fourth quarter, but it was Grand Haven’s Will Plummer who turned on the lights, scoring 11 of his 20 total points. Will Korenstra added 17 for the Bucs, while Amani Frierson and Nolan Portenga each chipped in 10 points. West Ottawa went into the half with a five-point lead and continued to pour it on until the Bucs caught fire. Grand Haven now sits at 9-3 overall, while West Ottawa falls behind to 7-5 after the loss.

Reeths-Puffer 62 – Jenison 56

The Rockets finished with two guys hitting the 20-point mark last night in the win. Braydon Mitchelson tacked on 22 points, while Marvin Moore finished close behind with 20. Reeths-Puffer held a commanding 22-point lead early in the fourth quarter, but basketball is a game of runs. Jenison got hot, led by Peirce Ginzer, and cut the lead down to seven with under a minute to play. Clutch free throws from Mitchelson closed out the Rockets’ first win in the last five games.

Holland Christian 67 – Spring Lake 62

Heading into the split, the Lakers trailed 31-25, and it seemed the Maroons would have the game controlled. One thing the Lakers have done all season, which all teams must respect, is their ability to roar back. A 22-point third quarter put them within one point, but turnovers haunted Spring Lake late in the game, and Holland Christian was able to fend off the feisty Laker squad. Reid Grimmer notched 17, followed by Jaden Core, who scored 11.
