Mariah Sain, Junior, Muskegon Girls Basketball
Sain is a 5’8″ combo guard for the Big Reds and she dominated in her last outing against Reeths-Puffer. In the 69-42 victory last Friday, Sain scored 28 points and shot 70% in the field. As a freshman, Sain was ranked as the 60th-best player in Michigan according to Prep Girls Hoops. Sain has been on an injury hiatus since December 24th, but she is back and in a big way.
Clare Westerlund, Sophomore, Whitehall Girls Basketball
Westerlund recorded a double-double in Friday’s 45-26 blowout win over Orchard View. Westerlund put up 19 points to go along with her 13 rebounds. She has played a vital role in Whitehall’s playing style since coming into high school as a freshman. Westerlund is on track to be a four-year varsity starter with the way she impacts the Vikings.
Hudson Hazekamp, Sophomore, Fruitport Boys Basketball
Hazekamp recently turned just 16 years old a couple of days ago. Often overlooked by Trojan DayDay Williams and Dexter Lillmars, Hazekamp has been just as productive. The 6’4″ forward notched 20 points, which included four 3-pointers, in the win over Belding on Friday. With the win, Fruitport secured a conference championship.
