FRUITPORT — When looking back on the 2025 Fruitport baseball season, a short way to describe it is simply historic.
The Trojans saw their season come to a close on Saturday after a 7-1 loss against Standish-Sterling in the state quarterfinals.
What made the season such a historic campaign was notching the first regional championship in program history. Before the loss to Standish-Sterling, Fruitport matched up with Frankenmuth in the regional final game.
Backed by a complete-game shutout from Wake Forest commit Ryan Bosch, the Trojans made history with a 4-0 win.
“The season as a whole has taken the program to a different level we haven’t seen ever. I have said for years a player-led team is greater than a coach-led team, and you saw that this year,” said Fruitport manager Nick Reed.

The Trojans plated 314 runs this season and began the year with ten straight games scoring double digits.
Fruitport opened the season on an 11-game winning streak before splitting a doubleheader with Calvin Christian. But according to Reed, it wasn’t until the GMAA tournament when he knew this team would be something special.
Three wins in 24 hours against top teams in West Michigan Christian, Mona Shores, and North Muskegon clinched the GMAA title.
After surrendering its first loss on April 29, Fruitport would not lose again until May 22 — a span that included a win at Marsh Field against state-ranked Spring Lake. “The moment I think turned some heads was the Spring Lake game. We were down and then battled back to win,” Reed stated.
The Trojans ran into a mini speed bump ahead of the district round, dropping four of their last five regular-season games.
In the district semifinal, however, they picked themselves up with a massive 2-0 win over Oakridge to keep the season above water. Sophomore Hudson Hazekamp and senior Tommy Anderson each went 2-for-2 in the game. “He was also our Swiss Army knife, as he played third, first, and second at some point in the year and was very effective. He allowed us to be able to make many moves in the game because of his ability to play multiple positions,” Reed said about the sophomore Hazekamp.
The Trojans would go on to rally past both Whitehall and Sparta in the district final and the regional semifinal before taking on Frankenmuth.
Jax Flynn had the hottest bat in the win over Frankenmuth, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. “He is our spark plug and best defender in the outfield. Any ball hit in the air, he ran down. He seemed to always be in the right spot,” said Reed about his senior centerfielder.
Fruitport allowed, on average, just over two runs per game, which showed how productive the whole pitching staff was all season. Bosch, Hazekamp, Trevor Rusnak, and Avery Lambers were among those who logged many innings on the mound.
“Our pitching staff was fun and close. They just pushed one another and then shared a lot of info and adjustments they should make,” said Reed.
The ace of the rotation was, of course, Bosch, who logged 62 innings this season and went 10-1 with a 0.677 ERA while striking out 134 hitters. Bosch accumulated over 300 career punchouts during his time with Fruitport.
“Ryan Bosch is probably the best player to come through Fruitport. I can say so much about him. But his biggest trait was being willing to do anything for the team to win. He played some outfield in the last few weeks to help us get healthy and more bats in the lineup,” Reed said.
Bosch not only dominated on the mound with his big frame from the left side, but he also hit for a .538 average and launched three homers with 39 RBIs.
