The 5-foot-7 junior point guard has been delivering for the Spartans with her scoring and 3-point shooting.

Point guard Mallory Miller is hitting her stride as a 3-point shooter and scorer for Mason County Central’s girls basketball team.

The 5-foot-7 junior has been putting up some big numbers lately.

That continued in this week’s CatchMark SportsNet West Michigan Conference Player of the Week fan poll. In a lively vote atop the poll among a pair of Mason County Central basketball players, Miller took home the honors.

Miller amassed 6,371 of the total 11,902 votes in the poll, which recognized six winter sports athletes for their performances Jan. 8-13, 2024. She edged Mason County Central sophomore boys basketball player Cole VanderHaag, who racked up 4,121 votes.

Miller scored a career-high 29 points in the Spartans’ 60-44 home victory over Shelby last Tuesday in West Michigan Conference Rivers Division action. For the second time this season, Miller drained five 3-pointers in the contest. She was red-hot from the floor: 9-of-13 overall, 5-of-6 from deep, and 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Miller added three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Miller’s hot streak has continued as Mason County Central is now 7-1 overall. On Wednesday, she poured in 26 points in a 58-42 home win over defending Division 4 state champion Maple City Glen Lake.
