Montague wrestling’s Trisha Beckman wins Player of Week poll for Dec. 4-9, 2023

Trisha Beckman may not have been quite so sure when she signed up for Montague’s wrestling team in her senior year.

Now she seems to be gaining confidence by the day.

Last weekend, Beckman brought home a title from the first tournament in which she’s competed. Today, she takes top honors in the CatchMark SportsNet West Michigan Conference Player of the Week fan poll.

Beckman finished with 738 of 1,522 total votes in the poll, which was the first of the winter sports season. Five winter sports student-athletes were highlighted, plus one fall sports standout, for their performances spanning Dec. 4-9, 2023.

Mason County Central basketball player Mallory Miller was runner-up in the fan poll with 287 votes. See complete voting totals at the bottom of this story.

Last Friday in the East Jackson Girls Wrestling Tournament, Beckman competed in her first tourney and she turned some heads. She earned the championship in the 235-pound division of the event and helped Montague finish runner-up in the tournament, just behind Hastings.
