North Muskegon junior standout wins CatchMark Performance of Week poll (May 16-21)

Troy McManus pitches and hits well for the Norsemen, and he excels in all three sports seasons.

Troy McManus is a man for all seasons.

In the fall, he stars on the tennis court for North Muskegon. In the winter, it’s basketball for the smooth left-hander. In the spring, he’s an ace pitcher and dangerous hitter for the Norsemen.

It’s time to salute McManus. The junior is winner of the CatchMark Performance of the Week fan poll for events spanning May 16-21. The CatchMark Performance of the Week is sponsored by VanDyk Mortgage.

McManus garnered 284 of 344 total votes in the poll. See complete results below.

Last Friday, McManus struck out 13 in 6 2/3 innings of a 5-0 win over Fremont in Game 1 of a doubleheader. In Game 2 against Fremont, he doubled, tripled and totaled two RBIs and three runs scored in a 13-5 Norse victory.

On May 16, McManus suffered a tough 1-0 loss to Montague in a game where he allowed five hits, struck out five and walked none.

On the season, McManus is 5-2 on the mound with a 1.64 ERA. He’s got 52 strikeouts and 13 walks in 47 innings. At the plate, he’s batting .491 with 13 doubles and two triples. He’s got 45 RBIs, 44 runs scored and 25 stolen bases.

North Muskegon is 23-10-1 overall and finished second in the West Michigan Conference with an 11-3 record.
