Regional championship weekend delivered elite performances, breakthrough personal records, relay battles and dominant team efforts across Michigan as athletes punched tickets to the MHSAA Finals with regional titles and qualifying marks.
DIVISION 1 REGIONALS
Zeeland East Regional 02-1
Division 1 Highlights
Grand Haven edged Rockford by just 3.5 points for the boys regional championship behind one of the top sprint performances in the state from senior Keiavion Korenstra. Korenstra swept the sprint titles, winning the 100-meter dash in 10.84 seconds and the 200 in 21.87, while also helping the Buccaneers win the 4×100 relay in 41.85 and the 4×200 relay in 1:28.10.
Distance runner Luka Hammond gave Grand Haven another huge boost, winning the 1,600-meter run in 4:18.15 and the 3,200 in 9:31.22. Teammate Archer Verhage finished runner-up in the 1,600 with a time of 4:18.37.
Muskegon Reeths-Puffer’s Marvin Moore delivered a personal-best 49.03 to win the 400-meter dash, while Mona Shores hurdler Ryan Opsommer captured the 110 hurdles title in 15.06 and later placed second in the 300 hurdles in 39.95. Reeths-Puffer’s Mason Darke won the 300 hurdles in 38.35.
In the field events, Zeeland East’s Sam Sietsema swept the throws with a 51-5 toss in shot put and a 153-6 mark in discus. Zeeland East also dominated the pole vault, where Austin Lee cleared 15-3 and teammate Andrew Macy went 14-3.
On the girls side, Rockford’s depth powered the Rams to a dominant 162-point performance. Wyoming sprinter Myah Nabors swept the 100 and 200-meter dash titles, while Zeeland East sophomore Adalyn Raab won the 1,600 in 4:58.59 and helped the Chix capture the 4×400 relay in 3:57.86.
Grand Haven hurdler Lauryn Wilkie won the 100 hurdles in a personal-best 14.75, while Mona Shores senior Natalie Hall captured the 300 hurdles title in 44.98. Grand Haven’s Adeline Bagnall won the long jump with an 18-foot leap, and Mona Shores’ Emma DeYoung cleared 5-5 to win the high jump.

DIVISION 2 REGIONALS
Cadillac Regional 11-2
Division 2 Highlights
Cadillac’s girls dominated their home regional with 147.2 points thanks to depth across the track and field lineup, while Shepherd narrowly held off Clare for the boys title.
Ludington distance standout Eliza Schwass turned in one of the best performances of the weekend, winning the girls 800-meter run in 2:12.01 and the 3,200 in 11:32.95. Teammate Greta Kohrer added a runner-up finish in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.55.
The Orioles also got strong relay performances, finishing third in the girls 4×400 relay in 4:17.52.
On the boys side, Ludington’s Walt Autrey captured a regional championship in shot put with a throw of 55-4.75. Raymond Karboske placed second in the 800 in 2:02.22, while Oliver Kolb added a fifth-place finish in 2:05.20.
Ludington’s boys 4×800 relay team finished second in 8:28.02, and the 4×400 relay placed third with a time of 3:34.29.

Montague Regional 23-3
Montague Regional Highlights
North Muskegon standout Barrett Nance dominated the distance races, winning the 800-meter run in 2:01.65 and the 1,600 in 4:28.95.
Montague thrower Isaac French captured the shot put title with a massive throw of 55-3, while teammate Dylan Bailey placed third in the high jump after clearing 5-8 and scored in both sprint races.
Kent City’s Jonah Hawthorne finished runner-up in the 400-meter dash in 52.26 and helped the Eagles place second in both the 4×200 relay (1:34.67) and 4×400 relay (3:32.06).
Western Michigan Christian’s Anderson Leffring cleared 12-6 to finish second in pole vault, while the Warriors also placed second in the 4×800 relay in 8:24.32.
Newaygo’s girls dominated the meet with victories in the 4×100 relay (51.50), 4×400 relay (4:13.34) and 4×800 relay (10:01.10). Morgan Andres finished runner-up in the 100-meter dash in 13.38 and later won the long jump with a leap of 17-2.
Kent City distance runner Elliana Max swept the girls distance races, winning the 1,600 in 5:24.29 and the 3,200 in 11:57.63.

Manton Regional Highlights
Hart sprinter Chase Lorenz posted one of the fastest 100-meter dash times of the weekend, blazing to victory in 10.67 seconds. Reed City’s Jack Deitsch followed closely in 10.77.
Manton hurdler Sasha Burtomboy placed third in the 110 hurdles in 15.28 and later cleared 6-2 to finish runner-up in the high jump.
Hart’s boys 4×800 relay team captured the regional title in 8:24.01 behind strong distance performances from Jack Slotman, Grant Ackley, Mason Opalewski and Trevor VanderKodde.
Traverse City St. Francis sprinter Helen Biggar won the girls 100-meter dash in 12.09, while Mason County Central’s Maylan Sanders claimed the girls 100 hurdles championship in 15.16.
Traverse City St. Francis also stayed in contention throughout the girls meet with strong sprint and relay performances.

Brethren Regional 33-4
Division 4 Highlights
Mesick rolled to the boys regional title with 146 points behind balanced scoring throughout the meet, while Mason County Eastern’s girls overwhelmed the field with 152 points.
Muskegon Heights sprinter Kaevouhn Sims won the boys 100-meter dash in 11.58, while teammate Kentrell Sims finished second in the 200 in 23.44.
Pentwater hurdler Chase McGuire-Vangills won the 300 hurdles in 44.05 and later added a fourth-place finish in long jump at 18-7.5.
Holton distance runner Ryleigh Alderink swept the girls distance races, winning the 1,600 in 5:33.92 and the 3,200 in 12:37.41.
Mason County Eastern stars Aubrey Myers and Annabelle Zwagerman controlled the hurdle races. Myers won the 100 hurdles in 17.27, while Zwagerman captured the 300 hurdles in 52.01 and later won the long jump with a leap of 15-6.5.
Pentwater thrower Logan Fatura swept the boys discus with a winning throw of 131-10.5 and finished second in shot put at 41-4.
Hesperia’s Emily McCallum won the girls shot put with a throw of 34-2.5, while Muskegon Catholic Central’s Liberty Labrenz captured the discus title at 101-11.5.
