Here are our top five must-watch football games for the week

Top 5 Must-Watch Football Games

Number 5: Whitehall vs. Manistee

Whitehall vs Manistee. Whitehall, who is currently number one in the league, continues to dominate. They took a big win over rival Montague last week and will be using the same “home-field advantage” against the Mariners.

Number 4: Hesperia vs Shelby

Hesperia vs Shelby. Both solid squads that have struggled early this season, Shelby will look to try and get their first win of the season. While Hesperia, who is currently 4th in the league and 1-1 overall, will be looking to continue their successful campaign throughout.

Number 3: Montague vs Ludington

Another powerhouse battle. Montague will be coming off a tough rival loss to Whitehall. Ludington on the other hand, is coming off a big upset over Oakridge and has the momentum going into this one.  

Number 2: Grandville vs Grand Haven

This one is sure to be a battle. Grand Haven has beat some solid teams so far this season, including a big win over West Ottawa two weeks ago. Grandville, on the other hand has lost to some of the best football schools in the area. Rockford being one of them.

Number 1: Mona Shores vs Muskegon

Easily one of the biggest rivalry games all season. The undefeated Sailors will take on the Big Reds away at Hackley Field. This one is going to be a bruiser. Look for coverage from the SportsNet Team all the way through this one.

Top Area Highlights

Number 5: Ludington Football

West Michigan Lakes Conference action, the Oriole football team took a big one against Oakridge, upsetting the Eagles. The win moves them to second place in the league overall behind Whitehall.

Number 4: Whitehall Football

With a win over rival Montague, Whitehall retains the bell for the fourth straight season!

Number 3: North Muskegon Volleyball, Addie Falkowski

North Muskegon Volleyball, Addie Falkowski, The North Muskegon native lit’ it up last week. In the Fremont Quad, Falkowski lead the Norseman to a 2-1 record, only losing to Lakes Division, Fremont. Throughout the day she recorded 9 aces, 18 kills, and 16 digs.

Number 2: Mona Shores Football, Jonathan Pittman

The senior was effective on the field Friday. Pittman was 7-9 on passing attempts, completing 77.7%. Rushing for the Sailors, he garnered 108 yards on 19 carries, with a rate of 5.8 yards/carry. The senior lead Mona Shores to a close win over Byron Center, 14-12.

Number 1: Muskegon Football, James Young

Young went on a tear for the Big Reds last week, leading them to a 47-28 win over Forest Hills Northern. He was 8-11 passing, with a 72.7% completion rate while also notching himself a trio of touchdowns. He was effective on the ground as well, where he rushed for 86 yards on 10 carries, averaging a 8.6 yards/carry rate.
