The senior left fielder had an impressive day as part of a big week. In Saturday’s Lakeshore Slam at Ross Park, Doornbos homered and finished 2-for-2 in a 19-0 opening win over Spring Lake. In the second game, a 1-0 eight-inning loss to Division 2 fourth-ranked Escanaba, she had Oakridge’s lone hit against the Eskimos’ University of Michigan-bound pitcher. Doornbos capped her day with a double and two runs scored in a 12-0 victory over Zeeland East.

The speedy senior is one of the top returnees for the Vikings, who have their sights set on competing for a Division 2 state title this season.
