Whitehall track speedster races to CatchMark SportsNet Player of Week (April 8-13, 2024)

Malcolm Earvin will be taking his talents to Muskegon Community College.

Malcolm Earvin is looking to get out of the starting blocks quickly during his senior track season.

The Whitehall speedster finished strong in the race to determine CatchMark SportsNet West Michigan Conference Player of the Week.

Earvin is the winner of this week’s fan poll, which recognized six spring sports athletes from the conference for their performances April 8-13, 2024. He finished with 4,383 of 10,433 total votes in the poll. Oakridge softball player Ahria Doornbos was runner-up in the poll with 3,970 votes.

Earvin is one of the top returnees for Whitehall’s boys track and field team, which has its sights set on competing for a Division 2 state title this season.

In last Friday’s Newaygo Invitational, Earvin got out of the blocks quickly in the 100-meter dash with a first-place time of 11.01 seconds. The Muskegon Community College track commit also anchored the first-place 4×100 relay, which turned in a time of 45.29 seconds. Whitehall ran away with the team title at the meet.
