Vote for CatchMark SportsNet Player of the Week (June 5-10, 2023)

The poll will remain open until noon on Friday, June 16.

It’s Week 10 of the CatchMark SportsNet West Michigan Conference Player of the Week fan poll for 2023 spring sports.

Six spring sports athletes from the conference who stood out in competitions June 5-10 have been nominated by the CatchMark SportsNet team.

Time to get voting.

The poll can be found at the bottom of this story after brief capsules on the nominees. The poll closes at noon Friday, June 16.

Athletes who have already been voted Player of the Week this spring are not up for consideration.

Athletes are listed alphabetically:

AHRIA DOORNBOS, Oakridge softball

The junior left fielder had a big day at the plate in the Eagles’ heartbreaking, 5-4 walk-off loss to Coopersville Saturday in the Division 2 regional semifinals at Spring Lake. From the No. 5 spot in Oakridge’s tough hitting lineup, Doornbos finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

ADDISON GILLARD, Ravenna softball

The sophomore pitcher and cleanup batter did the job in both spots as the Bulldogs rolled to a Division 3 regional title Saturday at Newaygo. The right-handed Gillard tossed a 32-pitch perfect game with six strikeouts in a 16-0, three-inning victory over Remus Chippewa Hills in the semifinals. In Ravenna’s 8-1 finals win over Grandville Calvin Christian, she went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored.

KENNEDI KOEKKOEK, North Muskegon soccer

The junior defender has played a key role for the Norse throughout the season and she did again in the team’s Division 4 regional championship run at Big Rapids. Koekkoek had an assist in North Muskegon’s 4-0 win over McBain Northern Michigan Christian in Wednesday’s regional semifinal. She followed up by scoring the lone goal in the Norse’s 1-0 regional finals victory over Harbor Springs.

CARSEN MOAT, North Muskegon baseball

The senior right fielder was solid in the outfield and productive at the plate for the Norsemen, who set a program record for wins in a season with 35. In a 5-1 win over host Grandville Calvin Christian in Wednesday’s Division 3 regional semifinal, Moat was 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored. In Saturday’s 7-0 regional finals loss to Lansing Catholic at Cornerstone, he had one of the Norse’s three hits.

JACOB SCHARP, Manistee golf

The junior finished 10th individually at the MHSAA Division 3 boys golf state finals Friday and Saturday at Michigan State University’s Forest Akers West. Scharp shot 76 on day one and 81 on day two for a total of 157. He led the Chippewas, champions of the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division, to a tie for seventh in the team standings at the state finals.

GRACE THOMPSEN, Holton softball

The sophomore cacher had a big day at the plate for the Red Devils, who fell just short of capturing a Division 4 regional championship Saturday at Onekama. In a 10-0, five-inning semifinals victory over Onekama, Thompsen clubbed a three-run home run. She also scored two runs in the game. In a 5-4 finals loss to Lake Leelanau St. Mary, Thompsen went 3-for-4 with a double.
