The poll will remain open until noon on Friday, June 9.

It’s Week 9 of the CatchMark SportsNet West Michigan Conference Player of the Week fan poll for 2023 spring sports.

Six spring sports athletes from the conference who stood out in competitions May 29-June 3 have been nominated by the CatchMark SportsNet team.

Time to get voting.

The poll can be found at the bottom of this story after brief capsules on the nominees. The poll closes at noon Friday, June 9.

Athletes who have already been voted Player of the Week this spring are not up for consideration.

Athletes are listed alphabetically:

TRANNON AYLOR, Whitehall track and field

The Vikings junior was seeded first in the 400-meter dash for the MHSAA Division 2 track and field state finals Saturday at Forest Hills Eastern, and that’s where he finished. Aylor captured the state title in the 400 with a personal-record time of 48.83 seconds. He also earned all-state distinction in the 200 with an eighth-place finish (24.03) and helped Whitehall’s 4×400 relay team place third (3:25.57).

JESSICA JAZWINSKI, Hart track and field

The sensational sophomore helped lead Hart to a second-straight MHSAA Division 3 state championship Saturday at Kent City. Jazwinski took first place in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:57.99. She finished second in the 1600 (4:58.86) and third in the 800 (2:16.22). Jazwinski also ran a leg on Hart’s fourth-place 4×800 relay team (9:35.92).

SAM JOHNSON, North Muskegon soccer

The senior right wing has produced offense for the Norse all season, but her effort in last Thursday’s Division 4 district finals against Western Michigan Christian was even more impressive. Johnson broke a couple bones in her left forearm/wrist last Tuesday, but she was suited up Thursday and delivered the game’s lone goal despite playing with a protective covering over the cast on her arm.

BEN MEYERS, North Muskegon baseball

The junior catcher has been one of the better hitters and run producers in the area this season, but he outdid himself as the Norsemen won a Division 3 district title at Ravenna. In a 17-5 finals rout of Montague, Meyers went 4-for-5 with a grand slam, two triples, eight RBIs and three runs scored. Meyers also is a CatchMark SportsNet WMC Player of the Year finalist this spring.

KARA POSTEMA, Ravenna softball

The senior who hits second in the lineup enjoyed a big day at the plate as the Bulldogs captured a second-straight Division 3 district title Saturday. In a 15-0 semifinals win over Montague, Postema went 3-for-3 with a home run, triple three RBIs and three runs scored. In a 4-1 finals victory vs. Kent City, she went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

JERRY WIEGERS, North Muskegon track and field

The Norsemen junior captured two individual state titles in sprints and earned all-state accolades in a third event during the MHSAA Division 3 finals Saturday at Kent City. Wiegers ran personal bests in both of his sprints, going 21.93 seconds in the 200-meter dash and 49.49 in the 400-meter dash. He anchored North Muskegon’s seventh-place 4×200 relay (1:32.44).
