Whitehall golfer Grace McDowell wins Player of Week poll for Oct. 16-21, 2023

Junior helped Vikings place seventh as a team in last weekend’s Division 3 state finals.

Grace McDowell consistently placed second or third among Whitehall golfers in their events this season.

Last weekend, she stepped up in the biggest tournament of the season. The junior led the Vikings to a seventh-place finish as a team in the MHSAA Division 3 state finals.

McDowell led the pack again this week: In CatchMark SportsNet West Michigan Conference Player of the Week voting. She’s the winner of this week’s fan poll, finishing with 3,222 of 7,438 total votes.

Shelby volleyball phenom Navea Gauthier was runner-up in the poll with 2,687 votes.

McDowell paced the Vikings in the two-day state finals at The Meadows on the campus of Grand Valley State University. McDowell was Whitehall’s top scorer over the two rounds with a total score of 177.

McDowell shot 86 on Friday and followed with a 91 Saturday in rainy and cold conditions.
