Player of the Week

Vote for CatchMark SportsNet Player of the Week (Oct. 23-28, 2023)

Poll will remain open until noon on Friday, Nov. 3.

It’s time again to vote for the CatchMark SportsNet West Michigan Conference Player of the Week, sponsored by Complete Restoration & Cleaning Services, Inc.

The nominees have been selected and the fan poll created. We need your votes.

Six fall sports athletes from the conference who stood out in competitions Oct. 23-28, 2023, have been nominated by CatchMark SportsNet.

Time for you to vote, over and over. The poll can be found at the bottom of this story after brief capsules on the nominees. The poll closes at noon Friday, Nov. 3.

If an athlete has won a Player of the Week fan poll already this season, then he or she is not included in subsequent Player of the Week polls for the fall.

Athletes are listed alphabetically:

JORDYN ANDERSON, Ludington volleyball

The 6-foot-3 junior setter assembled a nice stat line as the Orioles battled some challenging competition in a quad last Thursday at Mona Shores. In three matches, Anderson totaled 38 assists, 29 digs, four kills, four blocks, and two aces. Ludington, champ of the WMC Lakes Division, beat Cedar Springs and lost to Allendale and Mona Shores.

CONNOR EDWARDS, Hart football

The 5-foot-10, 155-pound senior has been a difference-maker on both sides of the ball for the Pirates, especially in the last couple of weeks. Edwards took over in Hart’s 44-22 victory over visiting Kent City in a Division 6 first-round playoff matchup. From his quarterback spot in the single wing, he ran 11 times for 204 yards with touchdown runs of 71, 33, and 40 yards.

JESSICA JAZWINSKI, Hart cross country

The junior cruised to another regional title and led the Pirates to a team championship as well on Friday at Remus Chippewa Hills. Jazwinski ran a time of 17:23.00 to finish first in the Division 3 regional and she’ll head to the MHSAA finals on Saturday at Michigan International Speedway looking for another state championship.

DARNELL MACK, Whitehall football

The 5-11, 165-pound senior running back stepped up for the top-ranked Vikings in a 28-7 victory over visiting Allendale Friday in a Division 4 first-round playoff game. Mack, who missed some time earlier in the season because of an injury, ran as strong as he has all season. He carried the ball 15 times for 117 yards, including a nice 33-yard touchdown run to put Whitehall up 21-0 early in the fourth quarter.

CHAZ MILLER, Fremont soccer

The senior scored the Packers’ lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Alma in a Division 3 regional final last Thursday at Big Rapids’ Cardinal Stadium. Miller was a playmaker for Fremont throughout the season and a big reason the Packers flipped the script from 4-15-1 in 2022 to 21-2-1 in 2023.

JORDAN NETCOTT, Montague volleyball

The 5-foot-7 junior outside hitter and defensive specialist did a little bit of everything, as she’s known to do, in the Wildcats’ nonconference sweep of Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian last Wednesday. Netcott’s stat line featured seven aces, 11 digs, two kills, and two blocks.
