DETROIT – Wrestlers from our coverage area rolled into Ford Field for the MHSAA Individual Wrestling State Finals on Saturday, March 1, 2025, and they did not disappoint. With three state champs and 27 All-State finishers, it was most definitely a weekend to remember.

Leading the charge were Whitehall’s Gavin Craner and Wyatt Jenkins, both locking down Division 3 state titles and cementing their spots among the program’s all-time greats.

Craner is probably already a household name in Michigan wrestling, and, this weekend, just put the exclamation point on his legendary career. The Central Michigan commit wrapped up back-to-back undefeated seasons, finishing his senior year at 54-0. He dominated Dundee’s Rocco Redmon in the 190-pound state finals, cruising to an 11-0 major decision. That win capped off an unreal 112-0 record over the last two years.

Unlike Craner, Jenkins’ journey to gold was a true comeback story. After a serious neck injury in 2023 nearly ended his career, he battled back and took care of business in his senior season. His 4-3 decision over Hillsdale’s John Petersen in the 215-pound championship match was an absolute thriller. He closed out the year at 49-3.

On the girls’ side, Gracey Barry (Grand Haven) got it done in the 115-pound bracket, grinding out a tough 4-3 win over Whitehall freshman Kassie Sapp to grab the state title. She wrapped up her season at 34-1 and helped Grand Haven make history, leading them to the first-ever MHSAA Girls Wrestling Team State Championship with 69.5 points.

With three individual champs and a deep lineup of All-State finishers, the Muskegon-area wrestling scene keeps proving it’s a force to be reckoned with. Here’s the full rundown of who made the podium at Ford Field:
