It’s been an interesting boys basketball season in the West Michigan Conference, to say the least.
As the regular season winds down, Oakridge and Montague are playing like the teams many thought they would be.
The Eagles are riding a five-game winning streak now after a big week that included victories over the conference’s top two title contenders, Whitehall and Ravenna. The Wildcats also have been doing a lot of winning lately and they kept that rolling Friday night.

OAKRIDGE 62, WHITEHALL 60 (OT): At Whitehall, the visiting Eagles capped a great week with a thrilling overtime victory over the first-place Vikings. On Tuesday, Oakridge routed Ravenna, 65-41, knocking the Bulldogs from a tie atop the league standings. The one-two senior punch of Garrett Wever and Ethan Jozsa was a force once again in the win over Whitehall.

MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 40, RAVENNA 39: At Mason County Central, the host Spartans held the Bulldogs to 14 second-half points in rallying from a nine-point halftime deficit. Ravenna had a chance to climb into a first-place tie with Whitehall in the conference standings but could not capitalize.

MONTAGUE 61, SHELBY 54: At Shelby, the visiting Wildcats jumped out to a 21-12 first-quarter lead and never trailed the entire night. Sophomore Isaiah Atchison was a force with a double-double in points and blocks. This is the seventh win in eight games for Montague.
