Whitehall V Oakridge, 71-66 – Thank you to Myles Welch for the awesome coverage!
Whitehall came into this one with an undefeated record in the West Michigan Conference: Lakes Division. One of their closest wins this season had come against Oakridge back in January, a hard-fought 63-51 victory where the Vikings locked down defensively in the second half. This time around, Oakridge was hungry for revenge. A win over Whitehall would have put them in the conversation for first place in the conference, depending on how the rest of the season played out. No doubt, this was one of the most anticipated matchups of the month.
It lived up to the hype.
Oakridge came out swinging, jumping to a 17-11 lead after the first quarter. But Whitehall punched right back, exploding for 27 points in the second to take a slim two-point lead at halftime. The game stayed tight the rest of the way, with neither team ever really pulling away. In the end, the Vikings did just enough to hold on, escaping with a 71-66 win.

Leading the way for Whitehall—like he has all season—was Cam Thompson. The senior star nearly put up a triple-double, finishing with 30 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, and three steals. Brock Morningstar was a defensive menace with five steals to go along with 13 points, while Corde Anderson added 12 points and seven boards. Cy Black chipped in eight points, and Finn Muller facilitated the offense with seven assists.
Oakridge, despite the loss, had plenty of solid performances. Evan Jozsa led the Eagles with 15 points and eight rebounds. Peyton Ruel and Bryson Stephenson each had 14 points, with Ruel also racking up nine assists and Stephenson pulling down eight boards. Michael Wambaugh and Evan Miller both added 10 points to round out the Eagles’ attack.
