Whitehall’s ‘Assembly Dual’ ramps up intensity in season-opening, top-10 matchup
Whitehall students in grades 6-12 as well as others made for a great crowd and brought the noise in an “Assembly Dual’ daytime wrestling meet last Wednesday.
3 champs lead Montague girls to strong showing in season-opener tourney
Seniors Savannah Winkleblack, Emma Pendell, and Trisha Beckhman each captured individual titles for Montague’s girls wrestling team as the Wildcats placed runner-up in the season-opening East Jackson Girls Wrestling Tournament on Saturday.
Oakridge’s basketball team made it 5-0 on the young season with a 53-36 home victory over Manistee on Friday.

Camden Thompson, defense power Whitehall past Spring Lake in front of Oakland coach
Camden Thompson packed the stat sheet for a strong showing in front of Oakland University coach Greg Kampe in Whitehall’s 50-44 nonleague win at Spring Lake last Tuesday.
Hart opens season by splitting games in Petoskey invite
Hart’s girls basketball team, which made a run to the 2022-23 Division 3 state semifinals at the Breslin Center, opened the season by splitting a pair of games in the Sean Pollion Invitational Friday and Saturday in Petoskey.
On Friday, Hart fell 54-34 against Division 1 Grandville. All-stater Addi Hovey had 13 points and five rebouns, while Kelsey Copenhaver grabbed eight rebounds.
On Saturday, Hart rallied from the previous day’s defeated and earned a 53-52 victory over Division 1 Grand Ledge. Hovey led the way with 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Abby Hicks had 13 points, nine rebounds, six steals, and three assists, and Copenhaver had eight points and four rebounds.
