CatchMark SportsNet: Player of the Week (Week of January 20th – January 24th)

Welcome to the CatchMark SportsNet: Player of the Week, where we celebrate the unsung heroes and rising stars who light up the local sports scene! Each week, we put the spotlight on three extraordinary athletes who not only rack up impressive stats but also inspire their teammates and elevate their game.

At the end of this article, you’ll find a poll where you can cast your vote for the athlete you believe deserves the title of Player of the Week. The poll will be open for one week, starting today and ending on the following Friday (January 24th, 2024). Spread the word, share this article, and rally your friends and family to vote for their favorite athlete! Let’s make some noise and show our local sports stars the appreciation they deserve!

Wyatt Jenkins, Senior, Whitehall Wrestling

Jenkins recently recorded his 100th win via pin on January 9th against North Muskegon. Fast forward to the GMAA tournament which consists of twelve total teams in the Muskegon area. The tournament took place last Saturday at Orchard View. Jenkins competed at the 285lbs weight class and finished at the top of the podium.

Marvin Moore, Junior, Reeths-Puffer Boys Basketball

The junior guard has shown his elite 3-level scoring all season. On Friday, Moore helped RP propel past Jenison with a 20-point performance. In the narrow loss to rival Mona Shores a week ago, Moore dropped 21 points, which led the team.

Taylor Nutt, Sophomore, Ravenna Bowling

Throughout the season, Nutt has consistently delivered high scores, including games of 197 and 233 in a match against Holton on January 17, 2025, maintaining the team’s undefeated record. Her leadership and outstanding performances have been instrumental in Ravenna’s success, and her future in high school bowling looks exceptionally promising.

Myles Welch joined CatchMark in February 2024 as a CatchMark SportsNet Intern. He would like to become a sports broadcaster or analyst. He currently attends Whitehall High School and will graduate in 2025.
