Cole Vander Haag scores 20 as Spartans roll past Shelby in WMC Rivers contest

Mason County Central back over .500

SCOTTVILLE – Cole Vander Haag and Trent Hawke both in double-digits for Mason County Central’s big win over Shelby 56-36. Leighton Belasco added 9 points to go along with Nathan Miller’s 8-point performance for Shelby.

MCC head coach Chris Vander Haag after the win, “Overall a really nice team effort. We got some balanced scoring tonight. With some really good minutes from Latrell Williams, Tyler Norton and Kyle Peters.”

OVERVIEW

Mason County Central picks up a must needed win Thursday night. After losing to Orchard View on Tuesday, coming away with a win against Shelby would put the Spartans back over .500 at (6-5).

For Shelby it marks the third loss in a row and nine losses on the season. The Tigers find themselves in 5th place in the Rivers division, leading just Holton and Hesperia.

LOOKING AHEAD

Mason County Central: Hosts Brethren (3-6) on January 15th.

Shelby: Travels to Grand Rapids West Catholic (5-3) on January 11th.
