‘Hot Seat:’ Montague senior infielder loves Packers, Brewers … and his brother, kind of

Aidan Buchberger is writing his own story, enjoying a solid season for the Wildcats.

MONTAGUE — Aidan Buchberger grew up in a sports-centered household.

The Montague senior infielder is the youngest of four boys. His dad, Montague baseball coach Kevin Buchberger, is a Wisconsin native and hardcore Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan, who passed that love along to his youngest son.

This week, Aidan Buchberger boldly stepped forward and held his own on the CatchMark SportsNet “Hot Seat,” a video series in which host Scott DeCamp peppers the guest with fun and silly questions in rapid-fire type of fashion.

Buchberger’s oldest brother, Jacob, is a former Montague multi-sport star, who is now playing professional baseball for the Peoria Chiefs in the St. Louis Cardinals system. On the Hot Seat, Aidan Buchberger makes it clear what he thinks of the Packers’ and Brewers’ rivals, including the Cardinals. And he’s not cutting big brother much slack there.

Buchberger, who typically mans the shortstop position, is enjoying a solid season. The Concordia University signee is batting .333 with four doubles, one triple, one home run, 16 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He also has 12 stolen bases.

Division 3 Montague takes a 14-7 overall record into Saturday’s nonconference doubleheader at Division 1 Rockford.

At 4 p.m. Monday, Montague (10-0 West Michigan Conference) hosts North Muskegon in a doubleheader that could decide the league title. CatchMark SportsNet will be providing a free livestream of the doubleheader on its YouTube channel.

Last season, Montague and North Muskegon shared the conference title.
