‘Hot Seat:’ Prolific Whitehall goal-scorer usually the one applying pressure; not this time

On day she scores 100th career goal, Maggie Evans put to test with funny, rapid-fire questions.

WHITEHALL — Speedy Maggie Evans breaking into the open field is usually a bad sign for opponents of Whitehall’s girls soccer team.

As the Vikings’ all-time leading goal-scorer, Evans has a knack for putting the ball in the back of the net. But what happens when she’s being peppered with … questions?

CatchMark’s Scott DeCamp found out Thursday afternoon, as he welcomed Evans on the “Hot Seat,” a weekly video series in which the host rattles off a bunch of fun and silly questions to the guest in rapid-fire fashion.

It was a playful interview, full of laughter, so check Episode 5 of the Hot Seat by watching the video at the top of this story.

After Evans escaped the Hot Seat, it was back to business for her. The senior forward tallied her 100th career goal in the first half of a 5-0 home victory over Oakridge Thursday night. She finished the evening with two tallies, putting her at 101 in only three seasons. (The 2020 season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.)

This spring, Evans has 22 goals and four assists for a Whitehall squad that’s 5-5 overall and 5-1 in the West Michigan Conference. She was Division 3 third-team all-state by the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association in 2021.

Evans also is a standout setter for the Vikings’ volleyball team. She was Division 2 third-team all-state by the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association.
