‘Hot Seat:’ Bubbly North Muskegon tennis sisters lob compliments, barbs back and forth

Gabby and Marilyn Gaston are key contributors for fourth-ranked Norse.

NORTH MUSKEGON — North Muskegon sisters Gabby and Marilyn Gaston both earned some bragging rights during tennis season last spring, when the former was all-state and latter was a state champ.

Whose accomplishment was more noteworthy? Let the debate begin!

The bubbly Gastons lobbed compliments and barbs back and forth during a very lively episode of the CatchMark SportsNet “Hot Seat,” a weekly video series in which host Scott DeCamp fires off questions in rapid-fire style.

Gabby Gaston is a senior and Marilyn Gaston a sophomore on North Muskegon’s girls tennis team, which is ranked No. 4 in Division 4.

Entering regional action today (Friday, May 20, 2022), Gabby Gaston was 20-3 at No. 2 singles and Marilyn Gaston 17-5 at No. 1 doubles. Last weekend, both girls captured Coastal Conference championships in their respective flights.

Last season, Gabby Gaston earned first-team all-conference, first-team all-area and first-team all-state accolades. Meanwhile, Marilyn Gaston teamed with Greta Goszkowicz to win a Division 4 state championship at No. 4 doubles.

This afternoon, the Norse punched their ticket to the Division 4 state finals June 3-4 in the Ann Arbor area.
