Late-Inning Drama Headlines Busy Stretch of Area Softball

The tension was building with every pitch Friday night.

Down to their final at-bats, Ravenna needed something, anything, to keep their perfect season alive. The dugout leaned in, the crowd tightened, and the Bulldogs delivered when it mattered most, capping a dramatic comeback to highlight a packed stretch of games across the West Michigan Conference and surrounding area.

Ravenna rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge Wayland 4-3 in Game 2, completing a doubleheader sweep and improving to 8-0 on the season.

After cruising to a 10-0 win in the opener behind Natalie Rosel’s dominant three-hit, 11-strikeout performance, the Bulldogs found themselves in a much tighter battle in the nightcap. Wayland held the lead late, but Ravenna stayed composed.

Sophie Robinson earned the win in the circle, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out eight. Offensively, Rosel led the charge again with two hits, while Emily Postema and Robinson each added a hit in the comeback effort.

Game 1 showcased Ravenna’s firepower, with Reese Herremans and Postema each collecting three hits, while Sydney Morrissey added two, including a double. The Bulldogs’ balanced lineup and strong pitching set the tone early, but it was their resilience in Game 2 that defined the night.
