West Michigan Conference girls basketball teams tipped off the season Tuesday in nonleague competition.

The conference slate opens on Friday with four matchups: Montague at Oakridge, Ravenna at Whitehall, Mason County Central at Hart, and North Muskegon at Shelby. All games should start at approximately 7 p.m.

Last week, CatchMark hosted the VanDyk Mortgage West Michigan Conference basketball media day at the Viking Athletic Center (VAC) in Whitehall. There, the league’s coaches were asked to submit info on their teams for season previews.

One of the questions we asked was predicted order of finish in the conference. Each coach submitted his or her predictions in anonymous fashion.

Hart was the unanimous pick to win the West Michigan Conference in girls basketball. Here is the predicted order of finish in the league based upon coaches’ responses:

1. Hart

2. Montague

3. Whitehall

4. Shelby

5. Mason County Central

6. Oakridge

7. Ravenna

8. North Muskegon

Tuesday and Wednesday this week, we published season previews for each team in the conference. Check out these links to see the previews and dozens of photos taken by CatchMark at media day:
